Attack on Titan Felty

I don't typically watch the latest anime right as it comes out, since waiting with bated breath every week for the latest episode drives me crazy, but Attack on Titan is one worth an exception.  Cousin T and Friend E were talking about it during Fanime, and I just had to see what the fuss was about!

I can't even say why I like the show, as it is definitely not my usual fare of romantic comedy or hot men.  It's more..creepy anatomical models and senseless gore and violence.
creepy!
The basic scenario is - big creepy titans have been eating the humans so all the humans live within a series of walls. They try to kill the titans but have little luck. A trio of friends (guts, brains, and ninja) enlist in the army to save the world. Hijinks and superpowers ensue.
Harry, Hermoine and Ron! No, wait..
Colossal titan!
Anyway, the art is fantastic and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. I need more, haha. And P.S. - a fangirl can always find someone to swoon over. Currently digging Lance Corporal Levi of the scouting special ops. Oh, angry eyes get me every time!

For our upcoming convention, I made a felty of the colossal titan for Cousin T.  He's very creepy.

This guy is puffy too! Hehe.

Do you like to watch shows as they air, or do you prefer to wait until it's finished so you can enjoy it all at your own pace?

Honeydew Milk Drink

When I first started this blog I wrote about how I love melon soda.

Well, I love melon milk tea boba drinks too.  I've tried a powdered kind before, but it wasn't quite the same.  However! This past week I found a giant jug of syrup in the very back of a grocery store (I think it was the New May Wah Supermarket) on Clement Street.  They had all sorts of typical bubble tea flavors, all for about $11 a jug. I convinced Sak to buy the honeydew flavor. Muahaha.
TASTE SO GREAT!
The syrup is from Taiwan, apparently.  It said to use 1 part syrup for 6 parts water, but I did taste-test proportions.  6 to 1 was a little too strong for me, so mine is probably more like 10 to 1? Or something.
Syrup is so green! Oozey slimer!
I mixed in mostly water, with some soy milk for a creamy flavor.  I think in actual boba stores they use powdered creamer? The soy milk wasn't too creamy. Maybe next time I'll just use plain 2% milk or maybe more soy milk and less water.  Also, you don't really need to use a blender, but I did since it was already out on the counter..

Pour over ice - delicious!

It tastes like the real deal. So green. So melon. So oishii.  I asked Sak if he wanted to get all the different flavor syrups so I'd never have to pay $4 for a bubble tea again. He said no. :P

What's your favorite bubble tea flavor? Thai tea or almond would have to be next on my list!

Lei Miscellany

Well, it's been a while again. The past week my in-laws were visiting, and due to the very tragic and scary plane crash at SFO, my brother-in-law is still here.  We actually dropped him off at SFO like, five minutes after the crash, not realizing what the black smoke clouds were until Twitter told me later.  He spent the whole day trying to book another flight.  Big prayers for the comfort and healing of the victims and their families :((

In more mundane life (sorry for the jarring change of pace), I left my camera in my parent's car over the weekend, so blogging is kind of difficult.  Not to mention I'm still disoriented after losing Google Reader. Mugh. I like bloglovin's simple layout, but not being able to view things in list view on mobile is annoying.  Plus I still can't comment easily on other blogs via mobile. It's really frustrating trying to leave a comment that gets eaten three times before it goes through!

Anyway, here's a lei I did for my Cousin S's high school graduation.  It's made from faux rose petals and ribbon; I followed instructions from a lei making book I bought during the trip to Hawaii last winter.
Here's a phone pic of my beautiful cousin - you can see how full and fluffy the lei is!

And for the other bit of lei tidbits, my mom always likes to hang fun things off the bottoms of the leis.  To help her out, I put small metal grommets (crop-o-dile) in the bags of candy and food she bought to give them strength when tied onto a lei.

Fun, yeah? Especially the Avengers candy! :)

Anyway, thanks everyone that donated from my last post :) I mailed out most of the "orders" last saturday, so hopefully everyone got their bags!
