One of Sak's favorite blogs, grocery coupon guide, mentioned a pretty good deal - now until Saturday, Walgreen's has free toothpaste. He thought you'd all like to know.
Or rather, you buy a $3 tube of toothpaste, and they will give you a $3 voucher to use in the store. (Double check to make sure the price tag on the Colgate says you get money back.) Or, if you save your newspaper coupons, use the Colgate manufacturing coupon and actually make a little bit of money. Sak had a net gain of about 50 cents using his coupon.
May the toothpaste be with you.

National Novel Writing Month 2011
Is anyone writing a novel this month? National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) starts today!
All you have to do is write 50,000 words of brand new fiction in 30 days! That's over 1,600 words a day!
Every year I watch it fly by, saying "meh, maybe next year". But this year? Why not! I have a bajillion things running though my head at any given time - might as well vomit it all out onpaper a Word doc. Then I can cross it off my unwritten bucket list. Ha!
Don't worry though, I won't subject this poor blog to the horror that is my fantasy writing. You see enough of my typos and grammar mistakes as it is. But if anyone wants to participate in NaNoWriMo with me, that would be awesome! We can toil along together! And then brag about how we've written a novel at the end!
Wow, look at me talking like I can actually finish. Haha! We'll see!

PSA: Free Tickets to Japan
In case you haven't already heard, Japan will be giving out 10,000 flights to Japan for the year of 2012. The freebie is due to the severe lack of tourism since the recent natural disasters.
This makes me so ridiculously excited, especially since it appears that they will be giving preference to bloggers that will document the trip and spread the word about how cool Japan is. Now is your chance ladies! I will probably apply too, but I doubt that I'd be picked since I already blogged about how cool Japan is, and apparently it didn't do enough to help their tourism industry. Sigh.
Anyway, stay tuned for more on that front, and if anyone gets picked, expect a wishlist from moi on certain snackage only found in Japan....

Bay Area PSA
For the Bay Area crafters, techies, or just the curious - today is the last day to buy pre-sale Maker Faire tickets. After today they go up in price! Maker Faire is May 21 - 22, and is utterly fascinating. Last year they had a letterpress you could try out, robots galore, amigurumi lessons, a giant Tesla coil, Adam from the Mythbusters, and so much more.
Sak and I will be going on Saturday the 21st, so let's hang out if you're planning to attend!

"Please be my friend! ....Hello?....Hello?" |
And also, Fanime is coming up at the end of the month (Memorial Day Weekend)! Sak and I will be there from Friday to Monday, costumeless since I am lame and didn't make one in time. If you're an anime fan (or have an anime fan in the family *cough*Glasses*cough*), this is the Nor Cal convention to attend. This will be my 11th consecutive year, which makes me feel both old and proud. Mostly old.
May is always the busiest month, but oh-so fun!

PSA: Cheap Flights!
I was on the subway this morning and heard someone talking about a fare special for Southwest Airlines.
Well, dang - it's cheap! $30 (one way) for 0-450 miles, $60 (one way) for 451-1000 miles, $90 (one way) for 1001-1500 miles, and $120 (one way) for over 1501 miles. Plus, you don't have to pay for checked luggage on Southwest.
Good only for dates between Dec 1 - Dec 15, or Jan 4 - Feb 16. Valentine's getaway anyone?!
Anyway, the deal is only going on for three days, and today is the second day. You can buy tickets directly through their webby, so you know it's legit.
I feel like I should buy a ticket. $60/person to go somewhere not so far isn't bad for a weekend trip! Where should we go? Are there any conventions going on this winter? Research commence!
