Halloween Costume Beginnings

So browsing through the fabric store a weekend or so ago I found this awesome pattern with pretty sweet illustrations on the cover.
Simplicity 2072
Being that it was 40% off, I bought it, not thinking at all of the following:

  • No normal woman has the proportions of the hot illustrated women.
  • It's a 2011 brand new pattern, meaning there are no actual pictures of real people wearing these things.
  • I am in no physical condition for such...short..costumes.
Yeah, oh well.  Nevermind the fact that I plan on being neither sexy school girl or hexing witch.  I have something a bit different in mind.  I'll lengthen the skirt for modesty, and make the jacket version.  There's a good chance it'll come out looking quite ridiculous in the end, but that's okay given the nature of what I plan on dressing as.
Big and yellow. (Not big bird. Seriously.)
I do like the school girl version a lot though.  If I ever get back to wedding shape, I will have to make one of those...

Have you started a Halloween costume yet?

  1. I'm interested to see how your costume turns out! We're trying to go cheap this year, but I still have no ideas.

  4. I like the patterns you grabbed, but agree that they will look better modified from the version that would fit a 6'9" woman with 6' long legs. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
