Neville Longbottom is my absolute favorite Harry Potter character. The world can argue between Ron and Harry, but Neville will always be my #1. *glomps*
We went to watch the grand finale on Saturday morning, hoping to avoid some of the crowds. Nope, no way was there any crowd-avoidance this weekend, but at least we got matinee pricing?
It was completely amazing up until the end. In the movie's final moments, I was snort-laughing as Sak was shaking his head. He didn't even like the ending in the book - where he described it all as "one big happy Weasley family". In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that (though the way they chose to portray it in the movie was kinda interesting). While he may find appeal in "modern" endings, give me a "happily ever after" any day.
Anyway, I'm really happy they decided to break the last book into two movies. It's so hard to fit all the content into one movie, and many books have their best scenes thrown on the cutting room floor due to the time limitations. I'm hoping the trend will be to capture books to their fullest, regardless of how many movies it takes to do so. That Twilight's last book will be a two-part movie is a good sign that this could continue of with other books in the future!

I'm really glad they split it into two movies too. Up until the last movie, I thought the pacing was WAY too fast - even the delivery of the lines was rushed. Part 1 pace was just perfect IMHO, Part 2 was a little too slow.

I am pretty sad there's no more Harry Potter stuff to look forward to now :(
Neville got HOT. Let's just talk about this for a second. Who knew that tubby little boy would grow up to be such a charmer? (Yes, yes. You did. But the rest of us were blind!)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they broke it into two movies, too. Although I really wished my theater would have showed a double feature with HP7P1 at 10:00 and HP7P2 right at midnight. That would have been AWESOME.
And the only time that I cried was when I saw Harry talking to his son. It was so sad. I was like its over? It's OVER? NOOOOOOOO!
Can they do a Harry Potter reunion movie or something? It can be pointless. I just miss them all already!

ReplyDeleteI just saw it last night and thought it was SO GOOD! I agree with Hannah that it would have been amazing to see HP7P1 back to back with HP7P2. Everyone at the theater I was at clapped at the part you illustrated, so you're not alone :)

ReplyDeleteI saw it at 12:01am Friday while we were on our anniversary mini-vacation, and I loved it!! Hubby said maybe we can see it a second time sometime this week -- fingers crossed! I know I missed some stuff through my tears. Lol!

I'm SO on the Neville bandwagon. By far my favorite character in the series. And did you see his girlfriend at the London premiere? Go Neville! LOL
ReplyDeleteI still haven't seen Pt2 but I've heard mixed things. I am kinda psyched about the rumor that Rowling's writing a new one about Prof. Mcgonagall's back story. Even if they don't make it into a movie I want it!
