626 Night Market

(Rewind, Labor Day Weekend '13)

While visiting LA, my aunt mentioned that we should check out the 626 Night Market, a giant asian foodie gathering.  With Sis, Friend E, M and Cousin T in tow, we headed to the giant stadium parking lot in Arcadia.

There were a TON of food booths.  It's nearly impossible to decide what to eat :/
Lobster balls?
Nah, Lobster roll!

I did get to try the milk tea + custard/flan combo I'd heard about.  The texture was great, but it was sooooooo sweet. :P
Giant boba drink!
Dunno about my weird squat pose.  It was also 100 million degrees outside. So we're a bit shiny.
We stayed until it got dark, and it got more and more crowded!
Curry nachos.
HK macaron - too cute to eat!
Squid stick! and lamb kebobs.
Potato skewer!
Potato stick fencing @_@
It was a lot of fun! And tasty!  I wish they had this up North, but it'd probably be too cold to have the same fun night vibe. :P  If we go back to LA this summer I'd like to go again!

DIY Espurr Felty

Since Pokemon X&Y have come out, I've logged 216 hours, and gained many pounds. I stopped crafting and blogging. It's not pretty, people.

In an attempt to find balance again, I spent all day today playing blog post catch up.  So there will be a sudden influx of outdated posts, ha. Sorry in advance.  I also put myself on a mild diet to hopefully fit into my pants again, and I tried doing a small craft to get back into the swing of things.  Pokemon related, naturally.

Espurr, psychic pokemon - cute but with creepy, vacant eyes - is one of my new favorites.

Actually I have to credit Penga-Sis for pushing the felty idea.  She wanted to make half a Marco (AoT reference), and once the felt box was out I couldn't resist.

2 grey body pieces
Sew on details of the top piece.
And then blanket stitch the two body pieces together.
I'll probably make him into a hairclip or something.  I know the eyes aren't quite the right color but I improvised with the felt I had on hand.

I'm not going to stop playing completely - I've got a pokedex to finish and I find IV/EV training and trading pokemon much too enjoyable.  But maybe I can slow it down a bit and try to alternate gaming and crafts? Here's hoping!

DIY Etched Attack on Titan Glasses

So if you're wondering what happened to me. Pokemon X happened. Yeah. It's been a while since I've played this much, and I am *really* enjoying this new version.  You can buy clothes! And make friends! My friend code is 1306-6185-0650 if you want to be friends :D

I'm also sooooo not ready for Christmas.  I've done not even a fraction of my normal crafting - even my greeting cards aren't done! Boo.

Anyway, enough whining, back to playing catch up!

Attack on Titan. Love it, and my otaku buddies do too.  So for Friend E's birthday, I wanted to make a set of AOT glasses!

Though since I had never etched glass before, a tester on a thrift store cup was in order.

First, cut out the shape. Scouting regiment, ftw!

Peel out the parts you want to etch, and cut to size.
Press the vinyl transfer tape to the image.
And stick onto your glass.
Make sure everything is on securely, no air bubbles! Then carefully peel off the transfer tape.  Use masking tape to cover all the sides, and spread on a thick layer of etching cream!
I used Martha brand etching cream since that's all I could find, and it was expensive.  Use a michaels coupon! Or better yet, find a cheaper brand!

After about 15-20 minutes, rinse off. All done!
It's a little fainter than I imagined, but it's cool when it catches the light!

Encouraged by our success, we went ahead and did the rest of the symbols - wall defense, training, and military police!

Friend E broke the glasses in by making an Eren Jaeger - Midori, Tropical Cooler Gatorade for extra green, 7up, and a splash of Jaegermeister. Haha!
