Luckily, my in-laws in both Japan and Hawaii are safe. We couldn't get through the phone to Sak's parents in Fukuoka, but we did get an email. *Whew*
Keep your prayers going though, 8.9 is devastating, even for the country most prepared for earthquakes.
I hope your loved ones are safe as well!
I'm so glad to read your post -- I thought of you guys right after I thought about my family. (Did I know that Sak's parents are from Fukuoka? My mom was born and raised there until she came to the US.) I'm glad they're okay, and my aunt/uncle/cousin in Tokyo appear to be okay, but I'm only going on the fact that my aunt posted something on someone's Facebook wall -- I figure if something tragic had happened, she wouldn't have been on FB at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible disaster!!! I experienced Loma Prieta, but this was more than 10x bigger!! They had an aftershock that was the same size as Loma Prieta!!!
i'm so glad to hear that your family is safe. the whole thing is just so horrible.
