DIY Pac-Man Garland

With a little forced help from Penga-sis and Sak, I completed my very first Pinterest project (yes, I have one of those now..):

Isn't the original awesome? I couldn't help but want to try it out, especially since it matches our Halloween invitations!

Using the templates here at minieco.co.uk, Penga-Sis took to tracing out some shapes.

Then we made a mess.

And then the helpers ditched to go play Little Big Planet, leaving me alone to cut out 96 eyeball pieces.

Gluing the eyes on, now we've got some cute little ghosts!

I taped them to some black ribbon, which is okay since the ghosts are really light weight.

And there we go, semi-painless Halloween decor!

They are so cute I think I will leave them up all October.
And maybe even November...

Love!

Anyway, I just want to get it out there that I suck at Pac-Man. Running out of the big dots that turns the ghosts blue frustrates me, and I usually panic my way into an early demise. They should call it Panic-Man.  But in any case, I can't say it's not fun!

What are your Pac-Man memories?

Mind the Gap

I figure, since it started raining again, that we really ought to do something about the gap.
This is the side of our house.  See the gap, under the gutter?

Yeah. Not so good.  It's caused water damage to both Brother-In-Law's room and the garage.
See the puckering paint?
Sak, freaking out about having to get the entire roof replaced, climbed out the skylight in BIL's room to assess the situation.

Though we are not professionals, we believe the problem being the curved angle of the bottom row of shingles.  Surely they are allowing water to pool up, and eventually leak down to the wall below?

In any case, Sak has been tasked with calling roofers for estimates.  I am hoping that there is a cheap solution to this problem, as bad as it sounds.  And yes, the gap in the wall was noted by our inspector in the beginning, we were just bad home-buyers and didn't think too much of it since no one else seemed to think of it as a deal breaker. The roof condition as a whole was listed as not too old, so I think this may be a one-spot problem.

By the way, I really wish our roof had eaves.  It's so weird and boxy without any! Maybe I'll just tape some plastic sheets up there until I can afford a nice roof with eaves?

Everyone's roof ready for the rainy season?

Halloween Party Invitations

It's October, whoo! That means it's time to send out the Halloween party invitations!

It's Pac-Man simple, but still cute and get's the point across. And by terribly-bad movies, Sak wants you to know we mean poorly-made/bad-acting/borderline comical horror movies. Not the kind that make you pee your pants in terror. I don't want people peeing on my couch.  Though I suppose it's possible there could be leakage due to laughing as well. I better get a couch cover.

Also, I'm not sure how I forgot to include the "costumes are mandatory" line either.  Maybe because I haven't even started my own costume yet! This will be a busy month.

Anyway, I'm emailing these out since Sak was too cheap to let me print them.  Boo.  Let me know if any of you local ladies would like to party-party, and I'll send you the uncensored version, haha.

And if you're hosting a Halloween party this year and need a silly free template, here's a version to use without my custom text:

Happy October!
